Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship
Sponsored by Tomball Regional Medical Center

The Texas Sports Medicine Center became home to the only Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship program in the greater Houston area in July 2006. This program is a cooperative effort of the medical staff at Tomball Regional Medical Center, the physical therapists at the Texas Sports Medicine Center and the Conroe Family Medicine Residency Program. The accredited program offers a one-year training experience to board-certified family medicine physicians that want to become experts in the care of athletes. Fellows that complete the program are then eligible to sit for the Certificate of Added Qualifications test in Sports Medicine, which is offered by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Through the Sports Medicine Fellowship, the Texas Sports Medicine Center offers community outreach to area high schools and club sports, state of the art concussion management using neuropsychological testing, exercise prescriptions, and return to play consultations for medical illnesses that impact sports participation.

In the near future, we will be offering executive physicals, aerobic capacity determinations with VO2 max and lactate testing, and outreach team sporting event coverage.
