Sports Advantage

High School, Ages 14-18, Training Programs

Are you a high school athlete that wants to take your game to the next level? At Texas Sports Medicine Center, we are dedicated to your athletic success and guarantee results. Our group training sessions are safe, competitive environments where athletes gain knowledge of proper running and jumping mechanics, coordination, balance, and strength to better their athletic performances.

High School Training Sessions
First Half of Workout focuses on movement preparation and improving essential components of athletic movement. We incorporate the following aspects:

  • Agility and proper mechanics of changing directions
  • Speed development and running mechanics
  • Aerobic or anaerobic conditioning
  • Jumping/Landing technique

Second Half of Workout focuses on strength training with body weight or resistance exercises.

  • Focus on correct and proper technique
  • Individualized workouts that follow a progression
  • Core training (abdominals, lower back)
  • Sport-specific exercises (ex: shoulder work for the throwing athlete)

ACL Prevention
Athletes who participate in sports that involve jumping and cutting, such as soccer, volleyball and basketball, are at risk of suffering an ACL injury. Female athletes are up to five times more likely to suffer from an ACL injury than male athletes in these sports. Research has demonstrated that athletes involved in proper training programs are three times less likely to injure their ACL.

Sports Advantage’s prevention program emphasizes proprioception and neuromuscular exercises, jump training, lower extremity strengthening, core training, functional and deceleration training. The ACL prevention program is a 6 - week course.
